End of 2018 Update!

Hey, Friends! It’s been a minute! We’ve made many updates to our home in the past year. We replaced the old electric panel, installed a new water heater, repaired the AC again, bought a new microwave, replaced garage door springs and I’m sure something else I’m forgetting. Fixing up an older home never ends but looking back on the journey and seeing how far we’ve come, makes it worth it. God has been faithful every step of the way.

I still haven’t replaced the fireplace tiles. I’m not sure what I want to replace them with. The back and forth drains me and causes me  to procrastinate. It will happen eventually, I guess. It will be easier once I know what tiles we are going to use in the rest of the house. Until then, it will remain an eyesore.

We finally invested in new sofas. We were hesitant since we have three dogs. After researching different types of fabric we took the leap. When we were picking out our sofas we went more with function than style. We consider style, but figured it was our only living space, and comfort and practicality were more important. Plus the dogs! I didn't want to worry about them destroying it. Hubby really wanted power recliners with built in chargers and I loved the gray with cream stitching. We are happy and enjoying our space!

I bought a couple rustic window picture frames last year (you can see pictured above, behind the loveseat). They remained empty until last week when I finally decided to go with matching black and white pictures. Once my Brother’s baby, Harper, is born I’ll add a picture of her. It’ll be my parent’s first grandchild. I’m beyond excited for them!

Behr Peacock Tail VS Behr Antigua

Peacock Tail (looks navy blue in pictures)

VS

Antigua (looks more teal/green in pictures)

New roof and painted ceilings

After a major storm in our area our roof started leaking in several places around the house. Thankfully our insurance covered the damages. It's been a busy few months for us. We had our entire roof replaced, along with a few damaged window screens during the Holiday season.
On top of that, on New Years, while we were out, someone accidentally shot a bottle rocket through our front window! I'm thankful a fire didn't start! We quickly had the window replaced.
Then this weekend we had our ceilings painted in four rooms along with our Living room accent wall. This required us to move the majority of our decor and furniture to the garage. I used this opportunity to choose a different color for my living room accent wall.
Though I loved the previous color, Peacock Tail by Behr, I have always wished it was more green than blue. I decided to have it repainted, Antigua by Behr.  The color is still deep and moody, but more teal. We are extremely happy with it! Pictures coming soon!

I'm so glad this is over!

I can't wait to post pics of our new wall color next to pics of our old color

Spoon Rest

I found the cutest spoon rests on Wayfair.com. I'm using one on our coffee bar and one by the stove. Pictures of our coffee bar coming soon!

Master of sky and land

“The God who made the world and everything in it, this Master of sky and land, doesn’t live in custom-made shrines or need the human race to run errands for him, as if he couldn’t take care of himself. He makes the creatures; the creatures don’t make him. Starting from scratch, he made the entire human race and made the earth hospitable, with plenty of time and space for living so we could seek after God, and not just grope around in the dark but actually find him. He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us. He’s not remote; he’s near. We live and move in him, can’t get away from him! One of your poets said it well: ‘We’re the God-created.’ Well, if we are the God-created, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to think we could hire a sculptor to chisel a god out of stone for us, does it?

Merry Christmas 2016

Check out last year's --->>> Christmas 2015

2016 Christmas tree. We made a few edits from last year.

Our rustic start tree topper from Target. I decided to put sparkling tree picks  and snowflakes at the top of our tree this year. It reminds me of glistening snow covered forest trees and falling snowflakes.

Burlap tree skirt and sparkling gift boxes

I added a string of pearls beads over my burlap garland.

Shimmery, "Let it snow" sign.

We eliminated the blue decor this year. We added a set of champagne color ornaments.

I weaved burlap and pearls in the mantle garland.

Our new nativity set from Kirklands

Mantel

New rug! We finally purchased our first large area rug. I already prepared my heart and mind for dog stains and muddy paw prints. Next, new sofas, but with three dogs it's hard finding a fabric and style my dogs wont mess up. I love our new Target curtains we purchased a few months ago with our Christmas decor.

Happy Harvest - outside

This is our first year putting fall decorations in our front yard! It's so cute!

Weekend project - mildew

After/Before

My little weekend project. Our gutters have had a little leak for the past year or two. The leak as allowed water to drain directly down a section of our bricks creating a mildew stain. I assumed it would be difficult to remove and procrastinated cleaning it. To my surprise it was extremely easy to scrub off. All I needed to do was soak it with water to soften the mildew and then use a soft cleaning brush to scrub it. I wish I would have done it sooner.

Happy Harvest!

Happy Harvest! It's our favorite time of year! And my love of pumpkins has only increased!
(everything pictured is from Kirklands)

I know I blogged about changing the white tile last year, but we still haven't gotten around to it. The main issue is I don't know what I want to replace it with, yet. Do I want slate? Brick? Gray? Beige? Until I get a vision of what I want to do this project will remain on pause.

You can see the new curtains we purchase from Target at the beginning of this year.

I love my turkey and white pumpkin set from Kirklands.

Our rustic wood "Happy Harvest" sign, ceramic chevron print pumpkins and wooden pumpkin banner are all from Kirklands.

The "Give Thanks" pumpkin and our standing female scarecrow are from Kirklands as well.

Our coffee table with a few of the decorations we used in our dining room last year.

I love this rustic white pumpkin from Kirklands! It's one of my favorite pumpkins in our house.
